Accenture to Expand India Office to 50,000 People
Nov. 10 – Management consulting and consulting firm, Accenture is set to expand its India office from 42,000 to 50,000 by the end of 2010.
William D Green, chairman and chief executive officer of Accenture, spoke with ENS Economic Bureau during the said ongoing India Economic Summit: “We are 42,000 right now and we imagine we will be about 50,000 by the end of 2010.” Globally, Accenture employs a total of 1,77,000 people.
Due to the global slowdown, more and more companies have been turning to offshore services as a way to decrease costs. The technology sector is expected to recover but pre-downturn levels will take longer to return.
“We are going to see technology spending to come back. But, I don’t think it is going to be what it was like two years ago, but it will be fairly robust,” Green added.“The demand for technology services is only going to continue to increase in the coming months.”
