Tamil Nadu Authorities Relax Rules to Attract Small Companies
Sept. 9 – Tamil Nadu authorities are revising rules at information technology parks located in Tier II cities to attract smaller companies to invest there.
“Earlier it used to be 50 acres or 100 acres that was affordable to mid-size and large companies. Now, we are willing to give one acre to attract smaller companies to the IT parks,” said IT secretary P.W.C. Davidar.
The new rules will allow companies to rent one acre of instead of the former minimum of five acres while also lowering minimum revenue requirement from Rs.50 million to Rs.10 million.
New information technology parks are being developed in Tiruchi, Tirunelveli and Madurai by state-owned Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (Elcot). Elcot is also involved in promoting technology parks in Tier I and II cities.
